BatChat With Matt & Will Episode 24: Reading Morrison is Like Reading Shakespeare

Grant Morrison Batman Banner

We’ve talked about them before on multiple episodes, but few writers cast a longer shadow over the canon of Batman than Grant Morrison. Big ideas, dark stories and characters that are polarizing are central to Morrison’s opus on Batman. This week, Matt & Will read three Batman stories by Morrison, one from before their long run on Batman, one from it’s beginning, and one from it’s middle, as Matt exposes Will to more Morrison, and while they don’t fight, well, let’s just say there are some compromises made on the ranking list this week.

Gothic: A Romance (Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #6-10)
The Club of Heroes (Batman V.1 #667-669)
Batman Reborn (Batman & Robin V.1 #1-3)

Be sure to check outĀ this weekā€™s BatChatĀ column, where we look atĀ Detective ComicsĀ #1,054,Ā Task Force Z #4, andĀ Batman: The Imposter HC.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of five. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the creator interview podcast WMQ&A with Dan Grote.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
