BatChat With Matt & Will Episode 31: Goodnight, Batcave

Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader Banner

This week was supposed to mark the real and true and totally final death of Batman in Justice League #75‘s “Death of the Justice League,” issue, but the vagaries of comic scheduling in a pandemic have forced that issue back a week. But still, that would not have been the first time Batman died, and this week, we’re looking at three other deaths of Batman: some literal, some metaphorical.

To Kill a Legend (Detective Comics V.1 #500)
The Untold Legend of the Batman #1-3
Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader? (Batman V.1 # 686, Detective Comics V.1 #853)

Be sure to check out this week’s BatChat column, where we look at Batman ’89 #5, I Am Batman #8, and Batman: Urban Legends #14.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of five. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the creator interview podcast WMQ&A with Dan Grote.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
