BatChat With Matt & Will: Batman (Comics) Goes to the Movies

Batman '89 Banner

I was going to do some parody of that God awful Nicole Kidman commercial that airs in front of every movie at AMC Theatres (why are you advertising the movie chain to people already in their seats?!?!?!?), but you’re listening to this episode, so I love you and wouldn’t subject you to that. This week, we’re looking at three comic book stories that tie into Batman media outside comics: the Burton Batman universe, the animated series through a sequel to Mask of the Phantasm and a prequel comic to the Audio Adventures podcast.

  • Shadows (Batman ’89 #1-6)
  • Shadow of the Phantasm (Batman & Robin Adventures Annual #1)
  • Batman: The Audio Adventures Special #1

Be sure to check out this week’s BatChat column where we look at Detective Comics #1,073, Batman: The Brave and the Bold #2 and Riddler: Year One #5.

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of five. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the creator interview podcast WMQ&A with Dan Grote.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
