BatChat With Matt & Will: New Year, New Batman Golden Age Edition

Golden Streets Elseworlds Banner

It’s the New Year, and so here at BatChat we like to look at different versions of Batman at this time, so we’re going back into Elseworlds territory. But this year, it’s a very specific type of Elseworld: the historical Elseworld, ones transplanting DC heroes and concepts into bygone days. And specifically we’re looking at three stories from the early 20th century: Batman as a Robin Hood-esque thief in the 1910s, Batman doing all sorts of bizarre stuff in the mid-30s (He goes to a party with Hitler, for *#@%*$ sake) and a film star playing Batman who maybe gets a little into his role. Happy New Year, everybody!

Matt Lazorwitz read his first comic at the age of five. It was Who's Who in the DC Universe #2, featuring characters whose names begin with B, which explains so much about his Batman obsession. He writes about comics he loves, and co-hosts the creator interview podcast WMQ&A with Dan Grote.

Will Nevin loves bourbon and AP style and gets paid to teach one of those things. He is on Twitter far too often.
